Boozhoo! And welcome to Bawaating Place - the place of the rapids and the original gathering place for the Indigenous Peoples of the area. In this themed 2 bedroom Airbnb you will find an assortment of Indigenous artwork, housewares, and décor. Perfect for those guests who are interested in Indigenous culture and history. Located in the heart of downtown, guests can enjoy the convenience of being minutes away from art galleries, restaurants, shops, and nightlife.
The apartment is fully furnished and bright, with two separate bedrooms, a newly renovated bathroom and fully-equipped kitchen. The living room has comfortable seating for gathering with family or friends. The 2 bedrooms in the unit come with a queen and single bed, the other with one queen. The beautifully renovated bathroom has a walk in shower with a dual shower head. Modern appliances and hardwood floors throughout will make your stay feel homey and comfortable. Enjoy your stay and experience the best of the city!
You will have access to the whole main floor apartment with a private entrance. Parking is shared with the upper unit if guests are there at the same time.
The home is located downtown and within walking distance to restaurants and shops. The Soo Waffle House is right beside the house for when you have a sweet craving.
Although the house is located on a residential street, you may experience some usual downtown noise at night.
Sault Ste Marie hosts many downtown street parties and events throughout the summer months, including Rotaryfest, Poutine Fest, and a summer concert series.
As an Indigenous person, I wanted to share the historic culture of Sault Ste. Marie and it's significance for Indigenous peoples. We are slowly adding to the tasteful selection of artwork and home décor. More photos of the space will be uploaded soon!
The house was built in 1937 and has the original hardwood floors. Most people appreciate their beauty but we have had a few comments about the floors being "a little squeaky". We do apologize for this but it's really something beyond our control.
The city of Sault Ste. Marie requires a 4% MAT tax to be collected for all short term accommodations. You will see this under guest fees as a tourist tax.
